Conceptual art is an ever-evolving field of art that incorporates the ideas of many artists. It can be broken down into many subgenres that can be used to have an impact on society. I will be discussing the contributions of several artists to conceptual art in this article. Marcel Duchamp, Elaine Sturtevant and Robert Rauschenberg are some of these artists. Next, I'll briefly discuss Lawrence Weiner's work.

Elaine Sturtevant

The American artist Elaine Sturtevant was commonly misunderstood throughout her life. She has received great critical acclaim over the past decade. The Museum of Modern Art in New York hosted the retrospective "Sturtevant - Double Trouble" in 2014. This was the first American institution to display the artist's work since 1973.

Robert Rauschenberg

Robert Rauschenberg conceptual painting is a type of painting that includes a conceptual component in the creation of a piece. His works are part of the collections of many distinguished institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and Tate Modern, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, National Gallery of Australia, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Tate Britain, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, Tate Modern, National Gallery of Australia and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art Gallery of Modern Art, Tate Modern Art Gallery of American Artists of Rauschenberg's work. Marcel Duchamp

The concept of "readymade" has many references in conceptual art. Duchamp created readymades using objects that he found everyday and made them into works. Duchamp's works are symbolic in nature, with themes such as eroticism, desire, and childhood memory. It was his intention to demonstrate that the rules of avant-garde practice in art were absurd. He also made readymades as a response to the dominant social values, such as class and gender hierarchy.

Lawrence Weiner

Lawrence Weiner's work has been widely displayed around the world. His work can be found in numerous museums, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of New York, Art Institute of Chicago and Tate Gallery in Paris. Weiner was born and raised in South Bronx. Weiner also attended Hunter College. He has also exhibited at numerous private collections worldwide.

Marcel Duchamp's Fountain

Francis M. Naumann, Philadelphia Museum of Art, curated the exhibition "Fountain". It is one of 20 century's most important exhibitions. The work, which has many enduring meanings, is a turning-point in art history. It reveals Duchamp’s ambivalent relation to truth. Duchamp didn't place much importance on objectivity or truth in his works. It is important to understand this context.

Marcel Duchamp’s urinal

Marcel Duchamp's Fountain is the most famous urinal in history, but there is a lot of controversy over its attribution. It was designed jointly by Duchamp & Baroness Elsa von FreytagLoringhoven. In 1917, it was submitted to Society of Independent Artists. Although the urinal was rejected by the Society of Independent Artists, it is still considered an important work in conceptual art. It was shown at the Grand Central Palace, New York.

Marcel Duchamp's Three Chairs and One Chair

Kosuth's assembly of a folding chair, with its full-scale picture and a dictionary definition of a seat are Duchamp's readymades. Both works are intended to question the meanings of the chair and show the relationship between image and language. They also question how art is created through language, and whether art can be art for its own sake. Kosuth was inspired by Duchamp's readymades.
